Kate Middleton decided she will spend her last night as a singleton on “neutral ground.” Forgoing the Queen’s offer of lodging for the night before the April 29 wedding, Ms. Middleton has instead opted to stay with her mother Carole and her sister Pippa in London’s Goring Hotel, reports the Sun. The paper reports Ms. Middleton has booked a five-room suite that mixes old, new and just plain quirky decor for a mere £5,000 a night.

After the suite was booked, the owners of the hotel decided a £150,000 spruce-up would be in order. A source at the hotel told the Sun: “There are things we really love about the suite’s new look. The bathrooms are amazing and the gadgets are state-of-the-art. But some of it looks a bit over the top, almost cluttered with antiques and ornaments.”

In the morning a group of expert makeup artists and hair dressers will arrive at the Goring to transform the suite into a studio and prepare Ms. Middleton for her stroll down the aisle.

Some of the room’s amenities include:

  • An original Crapper toilet…and, no, they are not being intentionally crass. The original “venerable” toilet is by the 19th-century plumber Thomas Crapper, the supplier of lavatories to several royal households, reports the Sun.
  • A waterproof television in one of the bathrooms
  • A flatscreen TV that can be summoned at the press of a button in front of the wooden four poster bed.
  • Silk wall paper goes for £500 per square metre.
  • “The master bathroom is decked out in ground-to-floor white marble,” reports the Sun, “with a vast walk-in shower that boasts an oil painting behind a glass screen.”
  • The room also sports, according to the Sun, “an antique wedding dress believed to be a prototype for the gown worn by Queen Victoria…hung in a glass-fronted display wardrobe in the bedroom.”

Royal wedding video of the day: T-Mobile’s ‘royal’ dance down the aisle

Westminster Abbey was the scene of a royal wedding rehearsal on Friday, with one very important member of the wedding party missing — the groom. Prince William was unable to make it to the altar, due to his work commitments in Wales. But the bride-to-be made it to the abbey along with Prince Harry, a Clarence House spokesman confirmed to Us on Friday.

But Will didn’t stand up Kate at the alter in the new T-Mobile ad launched Friday. Watch below as Kate and William look-alikes (along with actors playing high-profile members of the royal family) boogie joyfully down the aisle.

“It’s a congratulatory message to William and Kate, as well as a way of capturing the nation’s mood of celebration and jubilation in true T-Mobile style and in a digital format that will allow people to share it with their family, friends and online communities immediately,”director of brand at T-Mobile Spencer McHugh says to MarketingWeek.

“Wedding fever is really sweeping the nation as we count down to Kate & Wills’ big day,” he told the Mirror. “What’s more we’re also seeing wedding dance videos turning into a real online phenomenon across the globe so we decided to combine the two and create T-Mobile’s very own version.

The video teaser for the full ad was posted on Tuesday April 12 and reportedly snagged 170,000 hits in 24 hours.

Canada Post will produce over 16 million of the stamps featuring the royal couple

  Apr 15, 2011 – 10:10 AM ET

Canada’s royal wedding stamp that almost wasn’t has been unveiled.

Canada Post had not planned to issue a stamp, citing its two-year planning cycle. But it had a change of heart — ‘‘the Crown corporation could not ignore the demands it was hearing,” according to Jim Phillips, director of stamp services — and designed one just in time for the April 29 nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

It was to be unveiled at 10 a.m. Friday at Rideau Hall by Governor General David Johnston. “Canada Post has never issued a stamp as quickly as these two beautiful ones,” said Anick Losier, a spokesperson for Canada Post. The stamp will be available at post offices across Canada on the day of the royal nuptials, online or by mail order. “We managed to condense our production cycle just enough to get it there on time,” said Ms. Losier. “This means Canadians will be able to go to select post offices and have it cancelled [stamped] with a special ‘cancel’ commemorating this event.”

The stamp was designed by Montreal native Isabelle Toussaint in close contact with Clarence House; it was personally approved by Prince William and Queen Elizabeth. Ms. Losier said the number of pre-orders has been astounding, even before the design was unveiled. “The domestic stamp shows a photo of the couple when they announced their engagement last November, and the international rate stamp nears the official engagement portrait taken by the famed photographer Mario Testino” said Canada Post in a statement.

Canada Post will produce over 16 million of the stamps, a significantly higher quantity than most commemorative stamp issues outside of the holiday season. The Canadian stamp will be released on the heels of the U.K. wedding stamp, which was made available to customers on April 7.

Man finds mango jelly bean resembling Kate Middleton? And wants to sell it.

Is it possible to sell a  mango flavored jelly bean for £500? 25 year-old Wesley Hosie seems to think so, if its got Kate Middleton’s face on it that is, says the Telegraph.

It all started when Mr. Hosie dug into a 700g jar of sweets from The Jelly Bean Factory with his girlfriend Jessica: “As Jessica opened the jar, I saw her [Kate Middleton] immediately,” he said to the Telegraph. “She was literally lying there staring back at me. Given that the royal wedding is only a few weeks away, we hope to make a few pounds out of it by selling it on the internet to a collector,” he said.

Richard Cullen, Joint Managing Director for The Jelly Bean Factory in Dublin told the publication “This sounds truly incredible, I would have to see the bean myself to believe it.”
