Dunkin’ Donuts presents symbolic Royal Wedding Donut?

You will either love this idea or hate this idea…I personally will be driving to the store today…

Dunkin’ Donuts is presenting its heavily symbolic “Royal Wedding Donut” on April 24 (Sunday). The special confection will be available through the 29th (the day of the wedding) at participating stores.

Dunkin’ Donuts will also be opening especially early the day of the wedding, so you can watch the nuptials on the television and enjoy the new heart shaped donut at the same time.

“Those planning to watch the morning festivities can keep themselves running on Dunkin’,” says the chain in a statement. “…as many Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants will open at 5 AM eastern time on April 29, one hour before the ceremony begins in the U.S. at 6 AM eastern time.

You are probably wondering what would a Royal Wedding Donut looks like? And, how can a donut can be “heavily symbolic?”

“The heart signifies the love between Prince William and Catherine,” Dunkin’ Donuts said in a statement. “…and the donut is filled with jelly to represent how their lives are to be ever-filled with happiness. In honor of the traditional white wedding gown, the donut is topped with white frosting, but adds a modern twist with the chocolate drizzle, in celebration of William’s love for chocolate.”

The British-born CEO of the Chain, Nigel Travis, who enjoys duel citizenship, was raised in Woodford, Essex and thought it appropriate to mark the special occasion.

And, “To extend the Royal Wedding celebration throughout the day, visit your local Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant for an afternoon Dunkin’ Tea,” they advertise.
