There is no denying it that Chelsy Davy and Prince Harry made a very cute couple indeed, but if recent reports ring true the seven-year on-again-off-again relationship has finally hit its breaking point.
Last week in London the couple allegedly had ‘the chat’–And Chelsy jumped off the royal band wagon for good.
“Even though Chelsy and Harry have very strong feelings for one another, Chelsy had to let him go. They’ve been together so long the next stage would be an engagement, ” one of the couple’s friends told FemaleFirst.
“They’ve discussed marriage but her mind was most definitely made up by Catherine and William’s wedding, and so while she was happy to be his date on the big day, she’s now told him they should see other people.”
“It has been really hard for both of them and it wasn’t a decision they took lightly.”
Rumours recently suggested to the public the relationship might escalate to marriage—Harry said “you’re next” to Chelsy (in terms of walking down the aisle) at his brother’s wedding on April 29. But, Chelsy wants her freedom in life, away from the relentless spotlight that comes with the territory of marrying into the royal family.
“Apparently seeing Kate Middleton go through relentless ‘Princess Training’ made Chelsy think that actually, she’d rather not be a Princess and just live a normal life where she can do what she wants, thanks very much,” reports Sugarscape.
Another friend said to FemaleFirst ”Harry is besotted with Chelsy. She is the love of his life, but Chelsy is adamant she doesn’t want to lose her independence. So she had to end the relationship. Chelsy’s been feeling this way for some time now, but her reluctance to commit has only seemed to make Harry keener. However, finally he’s accepted her decision.”
There is also another factor to take into account: Pippa! Pippa! Pippa!
It seemed inevitable that all the frantic conversation about the chemistry between Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry (even if they never plan to have a relationship) would take a toll on Harry and Chelsy’s relationship:
“Friends tell Now that Chelsy, 25, was furious at the gossip linking Harry, 26, to Pippa, 27 – and now she’s banned Harry from talking about her, too.”
“Before the wedding, Harry would bang on about how perfect Pippa was and what a great figure she has,’ says a source close to the royals,” reports the publication. “He’d comment that she even looked fresh and pretty at a nightclub at four in the morning and would joke that she was a ‘foxy filly’ and a ‘thoroughbred racehorse.’ Gradually Chelsy’s become more and more jealous.”
Pippa has no shortage of eligible admirers including her broker boyfriend Alex Loudin and a myriad of titled and fortuned ex-boyfriends.
Prince Harry would have stiff competition to win her heart if her tries– And friends of Pippa’s say she isn’t likely to sway in his direction. She seems besotted with her current beau, despite the raised eyebrows that he did not appear by her side in Spain for the weekend.
FemaleFirst also reports that Chelsy has made summer plans that don’t include Harry; she will go on a tour of Europe with friend Melissa Percy.
The Mail reports that Chelsy and Harry do, however, have plans to meet up at Valderrama in Spain at the end of July.
So, for now it looks like the couple will spend some time apart… but who knows, the Chelsy and Harry saga could continue. Only time will tell the tale.
