The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge boarded a plane to Canada at 6:20 a.m. ET on Thursday.
The couple departed from London’s Heathrow Airport and are expected to touch down in Ottawa, Canada‘s capital, around 2 p.m— This is when live coverage of the event will begin.
Watch them board the plane below!
Interesting fact: “Canada is the only Commonwealth country that flies Britain’s Royal Family on its own military aircraft,”reports CBC.
Who will the couple be greeted by? Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, RCMP Commissioner William Elliott and other dignitaries will meet and greet Will and Kate upon arrival and Prince William will speak at Rideau Hall, 3:15 p.m. ET
What did Kate wear aboard the plane? In true Canadian style, Kate wore a navy blazer by Toronto designer Smythe les Vestes over a dress by French label Roland Mouret.
Below the the itinerary for June 30,2011.
After three days of practicing her curtsies to meet Kate at a medals ceremony in Windsor, seven-year-old Jessica Harris suffered from stage fright when the Duchess approached her; she buried her head in her mother’s skirt. The Duchess, however, showed her way with children when she calmed Jessica by stroking her hair and saying a few sweet words.
Jessica’s mother, Jenny, said to the Mail:
“It was really daunting but Kate completely put Jess at ease. The commanding officer asked us to come out on to the parade ground. Jess was holding my hand and the bouquet of flowers. The Duchess walked towards us and gave us her radiant smile. Then Jess got the jitters and buried her face into me. I gave her a big push forward and said ‘Go on, babe’. But the Duchess could see she was nervous and knelt down and stroked her hair, to reassure her. The Duchess said:’Thanks so much for the beautiful flowers’. She asked Jess what her name was and how old she was.”
Kate then said: “You look lovely. I really like your dress. You must be very proud of your daddy and the whole regiment.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were well into the spirit of Wimbledon yesterday as they watched Andy Murray, British No 1, advance to the Wimbledon quarter-finals; he beat Frenchman Richard Gasquet.
“The couple received a standing ovation from the crowd as they took their seats in the Royal Box on Centre Court,” says CNN.
The Duke and Duchess in turn gave Mr.Murray a standing ovation when he won his match.
Mr. Murray forgot to remove his baseball cap, a minor breech of etiquette, when he executed a theatrical bow towards the royal box after his victory, reports the Telegraph.
“I was thinking to myself as I came off that I was sweaty and very hairy,” Murray commented to the Telegraph.”I said to them, ‘I’m sorry, I’m a bit sweaty’. If I’d known they were coming, I would have shaved. I’ve been told to shave by a few people the last five or six days, and I just haven’t got around to it.”
On the sweltering summer’s day, said to be one of the hottest of the year, the couple joined in on the Mexican wave with fellow tennis fans during a break in play in the subsequent match between Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin Del Potro, reports the Telegraph.
According to the Mail: “The Duchess was wearing Temperley’s £395 Moriah dress which is on sale.”

Message from His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge
“Catherine and I are very much looking forward to our Tour of Canada. We hope to be able to meet as many people as possible and to see as much of the extraordinary and diverse country as we can”, said The Duke of Cambridge. “I have wonderful memories from my last times in Canada, and as such we consider it a great privilege to have been invited to Canada for our first joint Tour.”
Prince Harry recently cleaned up all the dating rumors spamming the web.
He says “no” he does not have plans of starting a relationship with Pippa Middleton and “Yes” he is currently flying single.
“Pippa? Ha! No, I am not seeing anyone at the moment. I’m 100 per cent single,” the prince told guests at the Live Nation VIP lounge, the Mail reports.
“I’m working a lot at the moment, so dating and watching TV are the last things I have time for.”
Hard Rock Calling in London’s Hyde Park was the ultimate celebrity destination last night.
Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, the entire cast of Glee and Gossip Girl, were all on the premises.
So, what was the attraction? Why, The Killers, of course!
The scene below:
Last night Heatworld reported live from the scene and talked about all the celebrity antics going on:
“So, we’ve been at Hard Rock Calling this evening in London’s Hyde Park and it’s from there that we bring you this HUGE news,” they said.
“Prince Harry (along with his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie) is currently doing a round of tequila shots with the cast of Glee and Gossip Girl. Together! All of them! Doing tequila! AMAZING.”
“We spotted the Glee cast arrive earlier on in the evening, when they headed straight to the Hard Rock bar at the festival.”
“Chris Colfer (Kurt), Matthew Morrison (Mr Schu’) and Dianna Agron (Quinn) were among the crowd and they were all having a great time. And they all headed off as soon as the countdown to the Killers (who were headlining the show) began at 8.30pm.”
“Of course, we were there at the side of the stage with them and we saw the moment that Prince Harry was whisked through with about 15 security guards – right into a prime position.”
“And it was there that he watched Brandon Flowers deliver his spectacular set. Then after the show, the whole gang headed back to the Hard Rock bar, where they are – as we speak – boozing together.”
Have you ever pondered what the story is behind Mike Tindall’s rather interesting nose?
“The rugby ace has broken his nose eight times so far in his 12-year career, and his olfactory organ has been the subject of many a light-hearted discussion among his team mates,” says the Daily Mail.
Rumor has it he’s already undergone corrective nose surgery once, and he has no intention of going under the knife again (anytime soon), much to the chagrin of The Princess royal; she asked if he would get his nose straitened for the wedding, voicing her concern that the wedding photos would look terrible.
“First I propose to her [Zara], she then picks up the phone and rings her mum,” said Tindall to the Mirror.
“Her mum says, ‘Can we get his nose straightened for the wedding?’ The worst thing was, she’s so keen for it, she’s happy to pay for it!”
According to the Mail, the Princess Royal’s request prompted 772 fans to join a Facebook group in defence of his oddly shaped nose.
The final figure is in: the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have raised a whopping £1,058,367 for various charities through their royal wedding fund.
The couple opted not to receive wedding gifts from guests— instead, they asked that donations be given towards selected charities.
“(They) are delighted that these charities are able to benefit so positively from their special day,” said a royal spokesperson to Hello.
“They would like to thank everyone who donated and contributed so generously to the charitable fund and for all the kindness and support shown to them throughout the wedding period.”
In other news, the couple decided to capitalize on the growing excitement towards their upcoming overseas adventure by releasing an official tour photo of them in the gardens at Clarence House, say reports.
The Duchess is wearing a recycled outfit, “a navy suit previously seen in Lancashire when she was still Kate Middleton,” reports say.
