Food Network’s Italian chef Giada De Laurentiis can thank a game of golf for her latest career boost: cooking at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club charity polo match next month, which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge plan to attend.
“I believe that everything happens through a golf game,” she told the Today show.
“Someone who plays golf with someone who plays golf with someone threw my name in the pot!’
The Emmy Award winning personality accepted the high profile gig without knowing the royal couple would be there, she told the Today show.
Around 2,500 hungry people will be tasting her dishes that day in addition to Will and Kate.
“I’m just nervous about new people tasting my food, any chef feels that way when people who aren’t in their circle eat their food for the first time – you always cringe until the first bite happens.”
Though terrified, she says she is also excited to see the royal couple’s reaction to her food.
Not only will William be at the event, but he will be playing in the polo match itself, so she might get to see him play too!

So, what does one feed a Duke and Duchess?
De Laurentiis told the Today show the dishes will evoke “classic California cuisine,” which is “fusion-style cooking” using seasonal ingredients.
On the menu?
She plans to prepare ‘light and colorful’ pea pesto crostini, topped with cherry tomato, chopped salad with grilled vegetables, shrimp and tortillas in a lemon dressing, and Chicken Milanese in a creamy tomato fennel sauce, says the Daily Mail.
The Chef says she is “overly excited” to prepare the meal.
