The Duchess of Cambridge watched proudly as the Duke took part in the annual Garter Day procession and service today at Windsor Castle; holders of the honor gathered to celebrate Britain’s highest order of chivalry granted by the Queen.

As tradition dictates, the Queen led a procession of knights and royals from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel, where a special service was held.

Members of the order were greeted and cheered as they processed the half mile on foot towards the castle’s chapel, by 7,000 specially-invited members of the public, reports the Daily Mail.

The Duchess of Cambridge, the Duchess of Cornwall and Countess of Wessex watched from the Galilee Porch entrance, as their husband’s, in their traditional blue velvet cloaks of the Garter Order, made their way towards St. St George’s Chapel.

After the special service took place, the Queen and senior members of the royal family returned to the castle via carriage.
