As the Olympic flame reached Buckingham Palace yesterday (July 26), the dedicated royal team GB ambassadors were ready and waiting to greet it.

Dressed in patriotic team GB shirts, William, Kate and Harry witnessed the flame pass between three torch bearers; each member of the royal trio had hand-selected a bearer from their royal charities:

“Prince William, Patron of Mountain Rescue England and Wales, selected mountain rescuer John Hulse,” reports the examiner.com. “…the Duchess of Cambridge chose Scout volunteer Jon Sayer and Prince Harry chose Wai-Ming Lee from charity MapAction.”

The torch relay ends at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games tonight (July 27) .

While tennis fan Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was in the Royal Box cheering at the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday, one couldn’t help but wonder where her Prince Charming, the Duke of Cambridge, was on the momentous occasion.

As it turns out, William and Prince Harry were surfboarding on a public beach in Cornwall, reports The Daily Mail.

Joined by a group of friends, and dressed in black wetsuits, the royal brothers shared a day of bonding in the waves.

Prince William is especially fond of water sports and went surfing for his stag do in 2011.

Quite a few high-profile Wimbledon-goers witnessed Andy Murray and Roger Federer fight for the men’s singles title on Sunday.

The Duchess of Cambridge was just one of many notable figures present to cheer on the athletes.

Prime Minister David Cameron, London Mayor Boris Johnson, and David and Victoria Beckham all made the trip to see some fine tennis. As did Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, actor Jude Law, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

The Duke of Cambridge could not be by his wife’s side, but Pippa Middleton stepped in to join the Duchess in the Royal Box.

While it was a disappointing day for Murray and those cheering him on—as Federer prevailed winning his 7th Wimbledon title— the tennis stars provided first class entertainment for the packed crowd.

Duchess to watch Murray at Wimbledon men’s final Sunday

The Duchess of Cambridge will be present in the Royal Box for the Wimbledon men’s singles final tomorrow, to watch the battle for the title between Andy Murray and Roger Federer.

“The Duchess is planning on attending but the Duke cannot because of a prior, private commitment,” a statement from St James’s Palace confirms, according to Digital Spy

Murray was happy to have had some royal support last week, and though the Queen will not be present for the final, he will have a royal fan present.

William and Kate were here the other day,” Murray told The Mirror. “The Queen was here a few years ago, too. There’s a lot of pressure, but it’s obviously a privilege to play in front of those sort of people. I’m not sure if she’ll be here on Sunday, but it would be nice.”

Well, maybe the Duchess saw the article and decided to provide some royal support— however, it’s likely Kate was planning to be present for the final all along; she appeared involved and enthusiastic in the Royal Box last week as she watched Murray play, both applauding and cringing at points.

Federer told The Mirror on Wednesday: “Royals coming out, I think it’s inspiring, too, in some ways, believe it or not. It’s great for the event. It’s great for Wimbledon. It’s great for the club. It’s great for the players.”

Though the Queen will not witness the final, Buckingham Palace has told media that she has followed Murray’s journey to the finals: “The Queen keeps up to date with the news and reads the newspapers, so she’s seen Murray’s progress,” Palace spokesman Zaki Cooper said; the Queen is keeping her weekend free after returning from Scotland to install William as a Knight of the Thistle.

It was another wedding for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa Middleton this weekend; the three appeared in Somerset on Saturday to attend the nuptials of Alice St John Webster and Gerald Alvenel.

In an interesting twist, two of William’s alleged ex flames, Olivia Hunt and Rose Farquhar, also arrived at St Mary’s Church in Bishop Lydeard for the wedding.

And, to match, Kate had two ex’s present: Henry Ropner and Willem Marx.

However, having their ex’s present probably wasn’t an uncomfortable turn of events for a solid couple like William and Kate, who invited their ex’s to their own wedding in April 2011.

Pippa arrived without a date to the event, but if recent rumors ring true, it’s possible her ex (Alex Loudon) is back in the picture.

Two hats rented and worn to engagements with Prince William (now the Duke of Cambridge) by the former Kate Middleton have sold at auction for three times their guide price, say reports.

An anonymous American bidder snatched up the pieces of fashion history at the Passion for Fashion auction in London yesterday, reports The Belfast Telegraph.

The now Duchess of Cambridge rented the items for an estimated £100 each at Get Ahead Hats in Reading, says The Daily Telegraph.

The hats were expected to sell at auction for £1,000-£1,500 a piece, but they fetched much more than that: the Philip Somerville hat brought in £3,224 and the Aurora hat went for £3,720.

Rental receipts, and diary entries showing Kate’s appointments at Get Ahead Hats, were auctioned off as well.

Events took place at the very same auction house (Kerry Taylor Auctions) that sold the famous see-though dress Kate wore in a St. Andrews University Fashion show; the frock is said to have piqued William’s interest in Kate.

The Duke of Cambridge celebrates his 30th birthday today and stands to inherit an estimated 10 million pounds from a trust set up by his mother, Princess Diana.

Despite the extra income, officials say there won’t be any significant changes to William’s lifestyle.

A royal aide has confirmed the latter notion to the Daily Telegraph:

“Whatever the financial position might be, you will see no obvious change of lifestyle over the coming weeks or months,” said the aide.

“There has been speculation about the Duke and Duchess having a house built but there are no plans for that at all.”

“If the Duke decides next year to continue his Search and Rescue career he might well have to move to another base, away from Anglesey, so the idea of a new house just isn’t on the radar at the moment.”

How did the Duke celebrate his special day? Predictably. Low-key and with close friends and family.

A spokesman for the Duke told The Telegraph: “He will spend some of his birthday at Highgrove, where he has been based this week, then whatever he does at the weekend will be low-key and private.”

The Duchess of Cambridge spent last evening under a tent in the Kensington Gardens, watching a dazzling production of a C.S. Lewis classic: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

The audience was packed with 150 school children from The Art Room, a charity of which Kate is a patron .

The Duchess made an effort to talk to both the children and the cast members at the performance, which was created by theatre company ThreeSixty.

“Having a royal patron like the Duchess of Cambridge is fantastic for a small charity like us,” Juli Beattie, founder and director of The Art Room told media. “To see the children’s reaction was overwhelming. It was a fantastic visual experience for all of them.”

The Duchess of Cambridge‘s Prince Charming, the Duke of Cambridge, affectionately kept a hand on Kate’s back as he led her through the churchyard; it is turning into a signature move of William’s, as he often places a hand on his wife’s back when walking into events or chatting at receptions.

Kate looked effortlessly classy in a silk, floral Jenny Peckam dress; it was the same she wore to a polo match during her North American tour with William.

The Middleton family traveled down the River Thames on the Elizabethan Sunday, riding behind the Queen as a part of the royal squadron during the Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

Carole and Michael Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge’s parents, and her siblings, James and Pippa Middleton, all partook in the festivities to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

The Middleton family’s invitation by the Queen to take part in the big day caught many by surprise; it suggests recognition by the Queen of the Duchess of Cambridge’s important role within the royal family.
