Down to earth Prince: Harry finds shelter from London rain in a rickshaw

Taking shelter from the rainy night after dining, the Prince and his friends Jack Mann and Arthur Landon didn’t hesitate to jump into a rickshaw, with one of Harry’s protection officers following just behind in another conveyance. Photo Credits: Jesal Parshotam/ Ikon Pictures

After dining at the Mexican restaurant La Bodega Negra in Soho on Friday night, Prince Harry proved he doesn’t need a fancy cab or even a horse drawn carriage to get about town in style; a pedal-powered rickshaw will do just fine for the down to earth third in line to the throne, especially on a rainy night in London.

“Harry just made a beeline for the tuk-tuk when he came out of the restaurant with his mates,” a source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper.

“The rickshaw driver looked a bit shocked to have the third in line to the throne in the back.”

“But they all seemed to be having a good laugh about it.”

The group spent the rest of the night partying at Le Salon Bar, reports the Daily Mail.

Prince Harry takes a new leadership role in support of young athletes

Harry's new role as president of the Sainsbury's School Games is not surprising; the prince has always been a huge advocate for youth sports. Prince Harry has taken on another leadership role in support of young athletes; he is now president of the Sainsbury’s School Games, a year-round school sports initiative that launched this year, reports UKPA.

The Telegraph reports: “Prince Harry had previously supported the Games, but his authority will now highlight the importance of competitive sport in the development of young people.”

1,600 athletes took part in the finals of the multi-sport event this past week, which was inspired by the upcoming London Olympic and Paralympic Games of which Harry is an Ambassador.

Prince Harry responded to the first set of games by saying: “Huge congratulations to everyone who has taken part in the inaugural School Games, but especially to those who have won.”

“I believe that sport can give people confidence and skills which set you up for life.”

“It is so important to get outside and to keep physically and mentally fit.

“I am very honoured to become the president of the School Games.”

Prince Harry: His fling with Saturday’s Mollie King

Saturday's singer Mollie King broke the number one rule of dating a royal: she wasn't discreet enough. And now Harry is putting space between them. Photo Credit: WEEN.com Collage work by Elspeth Lodge.

I should comment upon Saturday’s singer Mollie King— or rather explain why I haven’t reported about her and Prince Harry‘s rumored relationship.

Well, it seems to me that King is Harry’s stereotypical fling…

  • Harry picks out a girl that looks a bit similar to Chelsy Davy: tall, thin and blonde (think of his last brief relationship, Florence Brudenell-Bruce). Mollie fits right in with this description.

Florence Brudenell-Bruce's career as a model skyrocketed because of publicity she received while dating prince Harry. And she's still reveling in the afterglow. vogue.co.uk

  • The Prince then has his fun with the girl— until she gets a bit too excited by the publicity that goes with dating a Prince. Both Florence and Mollie started having major success at work because of their associations with Harry, and neither one was shy with the paparazzi. In addition, Brudenell-Bruce and King had friends who were talking to the media…a big problem.

  • After a girl breaks the rules, this is the perfect time for Harry to put space between them… exactly as he did with both Brudenell-Bruce, and, now, according to various sources, King.

While Harry will need a girlfriend who can deal with the spotlight, he CLEARLY doesn’t want one who craves it, judging from his past relationships.

Chelsy Davy is the perfect example of a girl who doesn’t crave the spotlight. In effect, she was able to have a long relationship with the Prince.

As Harry prepares for deployment to Afghanistan and carries out a host of charitable royal duties, it isn’t likely we’ll see a serious girlfriend anytime soon, but rather a series of these ‘King’ and ‘Brudenell-Bruce’ style flings—unless, of course, Chelsy Davy suddenly decides she wants Harry back: “Harry’s texting ten girls at the moment, including his ex, Chelsy,” reports a source to the The Daily Mail. “—Mollie is one of them. Harry likes discreet girls and Mollie seems to be enjoying the publicity a bit too much.”

Last week, King famously took to her Twitter account to announce the status of her relationship with the Prince. And, even though it was to say that she and the Harry were not in a relationship, you can rest assured that just the mention of his name by her (on her own social site) was dynamite to any future they might have had together.

Prince Harry has proven that he takes his duties as a godfather seriously time and time again; a few days ago, he once again showed his affection for ten-year-old Fred (son of his former beloved nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke), by appearing at his godson‘s school musical in Oxfordshire.

The Daily Mail reports:”A beaming Harry sat with Tiggy in the audience at £21,000-a-year Cothill House boarding school in Oxfordshire to watch Fred go through the acting and singing hoops involved in Oh What A Knight, a musical based on the life of King Arthur, written by the school’s music teacher.”

“Harry looked very proud as he watched Fred on stage and Fred was extremely chuffed to have his Royal godfather there,” an onlooker told The Mail.

After the play, Harry stayed to drink a glass of wine and to mingle with parents.

Harry’s night out: The Party Prince dances in the street outside Bunga Bunga Bar

Despite reports that Prince Harry has been told to tone down his social life and focus on his military career, it seems he’s not taken the advice (given by military personnel) to heart.

On Friday night, Harry took part in a marathon drinking session; he began the night at a Barts in Fulham, before continuing the evening at the Bunga Bunga Bar, run by a former Etonian, according to the Daily Mail.

A source told The Mail:

Harry decided he was up for a night out and started drinking at about 8 o’clock. He was pretty plastered by the end of the night and left Bunga Bunga at about 3.30 in the morning. They had been drinking cocktails and shots and Harry was in really good spirits. It was like he was in a world of his own. His friends were chatting on the pavement and Harry skipped into the road and did a little jive. It was hilarious to watch and he was really getting into it. He gave one of his mates a bear hug good night and then did a funny little jig to his chauffeur driven car.

Harry’s night culminated with a private lock-in until 3.30 am.

Earlier in the day, however, Harry was a picture perfect Prince— rigged out in a dapper suit to attend a a memorial service for the late Queen Mother and Princess Margaret at Windsor Castle. In tow were many members of the royal family, most notably The Queen.

Separation impossible: Prince Harry and William both move into Kensington Palace

Prince Harry has finally left Clarence House where his father lives and followed his brother, William, and the Duchess of Cambridge to the newly refurbished Kensington Palace. The Princes are like two peas in a pod, they adore each other and don’t want to be separated.

The two men have always been key sources of support for each other, as proven recently on Harry’s official royal trip to the Caribbean; William was always on hand to offer advice to his younger brother over the phone, even though he was serving the RAF in the Falklands.

An anonymous royal source told CNN: “Prince Harry and Prince William are a double act for the rest of their lives. They are very loyal and trust each other. Loyalty is key. Harry is very respectful towards William.” This is not the first time the Princes have occupied Kensington Palace— they lived there with Princess Diana when they were young.

The Duke and Duchess will occupy a renovated suite of rooms in Kensington come 2013, but for now they live on the Palace grounds, in Nottingham Cottage, and Prince Harry is in an apartment nearby. Harry is expected to take over the cottage once William and Katemove into their suite. But, before then, Harry is expected to go to Afghanistan for a second round of military service as an Apache pilot.

The D.C. socialite Bash Kazi tumbled off his horse during the Sentebale Polo Cup in Brazil recently and Prince Harry, whose charity the match was benefiting, was the first man off his horse to help. Later, Kazi praised the Prince’s character, telling The Washington Post that Harry is a “fabulous person and such a gentleman.”

Prince Harry was the first one off his horse, doing the right thing, Kazi told The Post: “I remember waking up with these piercing blue eyes looking at me,” he said. Harry had immediately turned Kazi over to make sure he regained consciousness: “Harry was massaging his neck, making sure he was okay,” Ray Regan, a Washington polo enthusiast on the scene told The Washington Post.

The injured party was then taken away by ambulance with a slight concussion, but he rejoined the match later.

Kazi hopes to play polo with Harry again someday.

Prince told no more time off from military or no Afghanistan

The Party Prince (also known as Prince Harry) will put away his bright blue suede dancing shoes for the coming weeks while he concentrates on his military duties, leading up to a second stint in Afghanistan.

A source told the Daily Telegraph: “Harry has been told that his whole life is now dedicated to the Apache. If it isn’t, he won’t go to war – it’s as simple as that. It’s black and white and the choice is his,” said the source.

“He’s been told that he can’t spend every spare moment down the pub and can’t risk spending more time on another Royal tour. Harry has taken those orders on board and assured the people who need to know that he will knuckle down and give absolutely everything to the final weeks of his Apache training. He is determined to get back to Afghanistan – and to do it in the Apache. He wants to serve his Queen and country more than anything.”

The Prince will keep working to balance his royal and military duties and he recently explained this to the media:” Nothing’s ever certain” he said of his schedule, “as I’ve realised. But I’ll do what’s asked of me. You can’t sit there with a stiff upper lip and not get involved. I’m in a very privileged position, so I’ll use my title to help out where I can, but at the same time, we’ve both got our military careers [he and his brother William], and that’s what we’ll continue to do,” he told reporters. “I will help out with my grandmother whenever she needs me, but I have this job that does suck up a lot of my time, and that’s the number one for me.”

If the prince returns to Afghanistan he will serve as an Apache pilot out of Camp Bastion. In 2008 the Prince served for ten weeks as a forward air controller.

Let’s hope Prince Harry kicked off his trip to Brazil in another pair of his colorful suede shoes—because they aided the him well as he danced his way through Belize, the Bahamas and into Jamaica.

After an event filled week celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the prince has arrived in Brazil to launch the GREAT Initiative; a campaign to promote Britain and forge ties with Brazil ahead of the London 2012 Olympic games. He flew overnight from the Caribbean and was greeted informally at the Rio de Janeiro International Airport on Friday morning, according to the Press Association. He then retired for a majority of the day.

Harry spent Friday evening attending to his royal duties at Rio’s Sugarloaf Mountain. There, he met Rio Mayor Eduardo Paes, Rio State Governor Sergio Cabral and the Samba band Uniao da Ilha. At the base of the mountain Harry enjoyed Brazilian festivities— including samba dance and capoeira martial art presentations— according to the British embassy in Brasilia. The Prince then took a cable car to the top of the mountain for an event highlighting British talent, culture and business; he also gave a speech.

” Thank you for a stunning Anglo-Brazilian welcome to your spellbinding city – I’ve got to get this right – this ‘cidade maravilhosa,’ he said. “Over the years, I’ve seen and heard so much about this extraordinary place – in fact, ever since my father told me about a certain dance he once had with a beautiful girl called Pinah. It just seems to have stuck in his mind for some reason.” The latter was a joke, in reference to a rather interesting samba in Rio in 1978 between Prince Charles and Pina de Beija-Flora. He also made a Joke about William: “Everything about Rio makes you want to dance. I’m just so thankful that my brother isn’t here because he might actually do it – and that would not be cool,” he said.

Harry said he is looking forward to playing tag-rugby and beach volleyball today (Saturday); he will teach children how to play the games in one of Rio’s hillside slums.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the Prince goes to Sao Paulo state where he will take part in a Polo match for charity.

Sunday marks the last day of Prince Harry’s tour.

Party loving Prince Harry hits vegas clubs for third night, now back to work

Photo Credit: WPA Poo l/ Getty Images Europe

Prince Harry hit the clubs in Las Vegas for a third night, arriving early Monday morning at the Encore Las Vegas’s XS Nightclub.

However, Harry kept his last night in Sin City a bit tamer than the others: “The fun-loving prince relaxed in a VIP table away from the dance floor, listening to a deejay set by the Manufactured Superstars,” reports People.

“Harry sipped a vodka cocktail, while a group of eight people – four men, two women, two security guards – at his table drank from bottles of Grey Goose and Dom Perignon, Coors Light beers and Fiji water.”

Could it be, that after two nights of clubbing, gambling, and a show, that the party prince was getting tired? Or was he just trying to avoid scandal?

Harry took pains not to be seen getting too close to the females in the club: “Although the mystery blonde he danced seductively with on Friday was at his table (donning a Beatles T-shirt and black jeans), Harry never sat next to her, nor did he dance with any women. Harry mainly kept to his friends and security guards for conversation, though he did greet a few friendly females, ” says People.

The prince left the vicinity around 4:30 a.m. And, to cut Harry some slack for going out on a Sunday night/Monday morning, it was his last night in Sin City before returning to Gila Bend, AZ., to continue his intense Apache Helicopter training.
