While tennis fan Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was in the Royal Box cheering at the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday, one couldn’t help but wonder where her Prince Charming, the Duke of Cambridge, was on the momentous occasion.

As it turns out, William and Prince Harry were surfboarding on a public beach in Cornwall, reports The Daily Mail.

Joined by a group of friends, and dressed in black wetsuits, the royal brothers shared a day of bonding in the waves.

Prince William is especially fond of water sports and went surfing for his stag do in 2011.

It was another wedding for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa Middleton this weekend; the three appeared in Somerset on Saturday to attend the nuptials of Alice St John Webster and Gerald Alvenel.

In an interesting twist, two of William’s alleged ex flames, Olivia Hunt and Rose Farquhar, also arrived at St Mary’s Church in Bishop Lydeard for the wedding.

And, to match, Kate had two ex’s present: Henry Ropner and Willem Marx.

However, having their ex’s present probably wasn’t an uncomfortable turn of events for a solid couple like William and Kate, who invited their ex’s to their own wedding in April 2011.

Pippa arrived without a date to the event, but if recent rumors ring true, it’s possible her ex (Alex Loudon) is back in the picture.

The Duchess of Cambridge spent last evening under a tent in the Kensington Gardens, watching a dazzling production of a C.S. Lewis classic: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

The audience was packed with 150 school children from The Art Room, a charity of which Kate is a patron .

The Duchess made an effort to talk to both the children and the cast members at the performance, which was created by theatre company ThreeSixty.

“Having a royal patron like the Duchess of Cambridge is fantastic for a small charity like us,” Juli Beattie, founder and director of The Art Room told media. “To see the children’s reaction was overwhelming. It was a fantastic visual experience for all of them.”

The Duchess of Cambridge‘s Prince Charming, the Duke of Cambridge, affectionately kept a hand on Kate’s back as he led her through the churchyard; it is turning into a signature move of William’s, as he often places a hand on his wife’s back when walking into events or chatting at receptions.

Kate looked effortlessly classy in a silk, floral Jenny Peckam dress; it was the same she wore to a polo match during her North American tour with William.

On Tuesday, The Duchess of Cambridge appeared without her husband at the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace, the second of the year.

Kate lingered with Charles and Camilla to greet guests; in an interesting move, she wore the very same pink Emilia Wickstead coat dress she dawned just 11 days ago at Windsor Castle, during a Jubilee lunch hosted by the queen for foreign royals.

“I’ve worn it before, as you probably all know,” Kate openly commented, according to The Express.

The Duchess continued, saying “It’s very nerve-racking facing such a sea of people, but great fun. Everyone looks so pretty dressed up.”

Kate was told of some recent statistical findings—that the average guest at a Buckingham Palace garden party will consume 14 cakes and sandwiches.“Gosh, no, really? Well, I had better see what I can do about that,” she said.

The approximately 8,000 guests at the party were invited from all walks of life, nominated by institutions, charities or businesses.

Kate has been dazzling crowds at important events for charity with the Duke of Cambridge by her side, but she is carrying out some solo obligations more quietly, and with a four-legged companion by her side.

On Wednesday, for example, The Duchess went on a scouting expedition, taking her cocker spaniel puppy Lupo in William’s place.

“Kate has been quietly working with the Scouts Association, managing games and activities with the cubs,” reports PEOPLE.

“Some of the lucky scouts got to walk Lupo and hold his lead, but when the puppy was alone with Kate, he was free to go off-leash, his ears flopping in the wind.”

The Scout Association is one of four organizations the Duchess is a patron of.

So, where did the Duke and Duchess awake on their first anniversary?

According to various sources, the royal couple arrived at a traditional Suffolk coaching inn, The Westleton Crown, around 1am on Sunday morning. All of the rooms were rented out for the wedding guests of William and Kate’s close friends Hannah Gillingham (an old school friend of Kate’s) and  Robert Carter, according to The Telegraph.

The royal couple arrived at the inn after attending the wedding and slept in The Swan room (around £165 a night).

In the morning, Will and Kate ate a traditional buffet breakfast with their friends, before traveling back to their cottage in North Wales.

The inn’s General manager, Gareth Clarke, spoke to The Telegraph about the visit:

We were made aware that some special guests were arriving, but we didn’t know just how special,” he said. “It was a lovely family occasion with a relaxed atmosphere and they were both seemed really happy to be in a comfortable environment with friends. William and Kate pitched up at about 1am and enjoyed a drink at the bar before retiring to the Swan room for the night. They both ate a cooked breakfast of bacon and eggs before they left in the morning. They’re the first royalty we’ve had staying with us. It’s not every day you welcome the second in line to the throne.

Another member of the staff recounted observations of the Duke and Duchess’s visit to the The Telegraph as well:

I saw them when they came down for breakfast. They were chatting with everyone and having a catch-up.

From what I hear, everybody at the wedding really enjoyed themselves. William and Kate were very friendly and wanted to be treated just like everyone else – they weren’t hiding away. They were getting involved and including themselves in the party. They arrived quite late but had a glass of champagne. We didn’t really see very much of them, because they went up to their room, but they had a buffet breakfast with the group. When they left, they said thank you for having them and said they had enjoyed their stay.

Look familiar? The Duchess in the same Erdem dress she wore last year in Canada. Photo Credit: Niraj Tanna/ Mark Stewartn

Doesn’t the pretty blue dress that The Duchess of Cambridge is sporting in the pictures above look a bit…no, VERY familiar? Well, it should; Kate re-wore the now iconic Erdem piece, on Saturday, to a friends wedding.

The Duchess originally wore the dress in Canada on a royal engagement, during her first official tour as a member of The Firm. However, this time she wore the piece to attend an altogether more personal affair.

In attendance at the wedding— in the village of Wingfield, Suffolk— were both The Duke of Cambridge and Pippa Middleton.

Duchess jests of Prince Harry’s Marathon prank at reception

At the London Marathon last week Prince Harry joked that he never seems to be able to find a space in the race, but that William and Kate will run it next year.

The Duchess of Cambridge was clearly ready to tackle questions about her brother-in-law’s jesting commentary to the media, when she attended not just one but two receptions on Thursday.

Kate had the perfect response planned when the topic was brought up by John Ions, Chief Executive of Lionstrust, at Goldsmith’s Hall: “I think William’s going to have to do something to get him back,” Kate told him, People reports. “I’m more of a short distance runner. My sister’s more of a longer-distance runner.”

The Duke and Duchess have made a number of public appearances this week, leading up to a quiet celebration of their first anniversary on Sunday in Scotland. Sadly, it has just been discovered that the water at Birkhall has been contaminated and the royal couple will drink bottled water throughout their stay, reports the Express.

Duke and Duchess to attend Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials this year, say event organizers who have released a public statement.

The decision is an interesting one— given the Duchess has a slight allergy to horses. However, considering Kate’s new roll as an Olympic Ambassador for London 2012, she might be willing to tough out the event; it will  be one of the last chances for eventers to “impress” the Olympic selectors, reports Horse&Hound.

The Duchess will also want to show support to her new family member Zara Phillips: “With the fifth spot in Team GBR very much open, the Duke’s cousin, Zara Phillips, will be hoping to impress with Trevor Hemmings’ High Kingdom, 10th at Burghley last year,” reports Horse&Hound.

The royal couple will watch the final jumping test section before presenting prizes to the successful competitors.
This will not be the first or final time the Duchess tries to overcome her horse allergy.
Kate usually watches William play polo from afar, though, she did attend a charity polo match last year at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club; It was there that the Duchess told a source she is trying to overcome the allergy: “According to Clarisa Ru, wife of Santa Barbara Polo Club president Wesley Ru, Kate has been working on overcoming her allergy,” reported PEOPLE online on July 11, 2011.
“I got a chance to have a conversation with Kate,” Ru told PEOPLE. “I asked if she was into polo before she met William. She said no. But she’s been riding horses for awhile and she hopes to play polo one day. She said ‘I’m actually allergic to them, but the more time one spends with them the less allergic you become.”
