While tennis fan Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was in the Royal Box cheering at the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday, one couldn’t help but wonder where her Prince Charming, the Duke of Cambridge, was on the momentous occasion.

As it turns out, William and Prince Harry were surfboarding on a public beach in Cornwall, reports The Daily Mail.

Joined by a group of friends, and dressed in black wetsuits, the royal brothers shared a day of bonding in the waves.

Prince William is especially fond of water sports and went surfing for his stag do in 2011.

The Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn, was installed as a Knight of the Thistle in Edinburgh today (5 July), in a service that included prayers, readings, and hymns.

William entered the Thistle Chapel in his ceremonial gown just shy of 11 am, reports the Press Association.

The Queen said: “It is our pleasure that His Royal Highness the Prince William, Earl of Strathearn, be installed a Knight of the most ancient and most noble Order of the Thistle.”

Dean of the Thistle, Rev Gilleasbuig Macmillan, headed the installation ceremony.

Two hats rented and worn to engagements with Prince William (now the Duke of Cambridge) by the former Kate Middleton have sold at auction for three times their guide price, say reports.

An anonymous American bidder snatched up the pieces of fashion history at the Passion for Fashion auction in London yesterday, reports The Belfast Telegraph.

The now Duchess of Cambridge rented the items for an estimated £100 each at Get Ahead Hats in Reading, says The Daily Telegraph.

The hats were expected to sell at auction for £1,000-£1,500 a piece, but they fetched much more than that: the Philip Somerville hat brought in £3,224 and the Aurora hat went for £3,720.

Rental receipts, and diary entries showing Kate’s appointments at Get Ahead Hats, were auctioned off as well.

Events took place at the very same auction house (Kerry Taylor Auctions) that sold the famous see-though dress Kate wore in a St. Andrews University Fashion show; the frock is said to have piqued William’s interest in Kate.

Guy Pelly, an old friend of both Prince Harry and The Duke of Cambridge, co-owns Public with David Phelps.

Phelps told The Daily Mail: “We have been doing this for years, and the closure shouldn’t have happened. We are clearly the premium club in the area,”

Local residents had been complaining for the past year about extensive noise and mess associated with Public party-goers.

And, while there are two other clubs located in the same warehouse as Public—Embargo and Rumi— the problems were blamed on Public.

“Guy and David still have the lease and a license until midnight so they are working on a new concept which can work with those hours,” a club source told The Mail. “Things are being sorted out at the moment and there’s talk about Public becoming a joint venture with another well-known brand.

Since Public’s closing, Harry’s been spotted at a variety of night spots— most often at The Arts Club in Mayfair— where his grandfather, Prince Philip, is Patron.

Public has been frequented in the past by Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, Pippa Middleton, Chelsea Davey (Harry’s ex) and the former Prince William and Kate Middleton (now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge).

Wedding photographer speaks highly of Duke and Duchess

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were recently praised openly by their wedding day photographer, Hugo Burnand, for their ‘kindness’ and ‘good manners.’ Burnand told Bang Showbiz of the lovely experience he had working with the royal couple last April:

Prince William and Catherine are the kindest people, they have the most fantastic good manners,” he said. “It was not just an honour and a privilege to have such an important commission but it was an honour and privilege to work with two such lovely people, they have such kindness and good manners. If everyone was like that life would be a dream. My favourite photograph was the one where they were sitting on the steps in the throne room with all of the bridesmaids around them and we had literally minutes to do that. We had almost run out of time but everyone was organised and we were ready to do it and we had bribes of jelly beans for the kids and within three minutes we were able to get everyone together and take the picture. The personalities of the individuals really shine through because we didn’t have time to stage anything and I think it’s wonderful.

The royal couple are set to celebrate the first anniversary of their marriage on April 29th.

Separation impossible: Prince Harry and William both move into Kensington Palace

Prince Harry has finally left Clarence House where his father lives and followed his brother, William, and the Duchess of Cambridge to the newly refurbished Kensington Palace. The Princes are like two peas in a pod, they adore each other and don’t want to be separated.

The two men have always been key sources of support for each other, as proven recently on Harry’s official royal trip to the Caribbean; William was always on hand to offer advice to his younger brother over the phone, even though he was serving the RAF in the Falklands.

An anonymous royal source told CNN: “Prince Harry and Prince William are a double act for the rest of their lives. They are very loyal and trust each other. Loyalty is key. Harry is very respectful towards William.” This is not the first time the Princes have occupied Kensington Palace— they lived there with Princess Diana when they were young.

The Duke and Duchess will occupy a renovated suite of rooms in Kensington come 2013, but for now they live on the Palace grounds, in Nottingham Cottage, and Prince Harry is in an apartment nearby. Harry is expected to take over the cottage once William and Katemove into their suite. But, before then, Harry is expected to go to Afghanistan for a second round of military service as an Apache pilot.

Media showing respect to Duchess of Cambridge, press obsession with Pippa Middleton growing

The press are in the process of proving to the new Duchess of Cambridge that they are capable of respecting boundaries:

The royal couple’s honeymoon in the Seychelles was kept relatively private, even though most reporters knew their whereabouts— And coverage of the Duchess last week was quite restrained, especially given it was her first official event as a member of “The Firm,”where she met one of the most high profile couples in the world: Barack and Michelle Obama.

Clarence House has asked that Will and Kate  “be allowed to enjoy their married life unhindered,” reports the Telegraph.

And, according to a recent study coverage of Kate has dropped an astounding 94 percent since she married her prince (now the Duke of Cambridge) in April.

However, while the Duchess has been left alone, reports about her sister Pippa have sky rocketed—It is Pippa Middleton who has been dominating the headlines ever since the royal nuptials.

“Her rise has been meteoric, to the extent that two weeks after the wedding Pippa overtakes Kate in our media survey,” reports Brian Merron from Kantar Media Intelligence. With the media focus now moving on from the newlyweds it’s safe to say that Pippa Middleton’s celebrity status is well and truly set to climb and climb.”

‘Wait until you see her,’ Says Prince Harry to William when Kate walks up the aisle

Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011

When Kate Middleton walked up the aisle towards William (who had his back to the bride as is customary), Prince Harry turned to look at Kate. He smiled mischievously and said some low words in his brother’s ear, clearly about how Kate looked.

If you were wondering what Harry said, to me it looked like “Wait until you see her.”

Royal wedding prep in full swing: rehearsals took place Wednesday, flowers begin to arrive at abbey

Full royal wedding rehearsal:

Wednesday evening Prince William and Kate Middleton had a full wedding rehearsal at Westminster Abbey, where flowers have already started to arrive.

Select members of the wedding party were present and the couple had an audience with the Dean of the abbey.

“Last night, the couple attended a full and final wedding rehearsal at Westminster Abbey along with Prince Harry and Miss Middleton’s parents,” reports the Telegraph.”Their black police Range Rover, with a motorcade of people carriers and police outriders, swept into Dean’s Yard at 7.30pm for a run-through. The couple left the abbey just after 9pm.”

Have Will and Kate written their own vows?

Kate drove from her family home to Clarence House early Wednesday morning and in the back of her car photographers could make out a sheet of paper with some writing on it. Much of the writing was obscured, but they could make out the words ‘With so much love within our hearts.’ This is leading people to speculate the couple could be writing their own vows.

An early morning for London military personnel:

A 4 a.m. wedding rehearsal was attended yesterday morning,  by over 1,000 soldiers, sailors and airmen who before gathered for a 2 a.m. briefing at Wellington Barracks near Buckingham Palace.

The Telegraph reports the gathering dispersed just before 5 a.m. so they could trek the “ceremonial route” from the palace to Westminster Abbey.

“The procession later made its way back along Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade and The Mall, all of which were closed to traffic,” reports the Telegraph.

EOnline reports that Kate had a look-a-like to stand in for her:”A “pretty brunette” emerged from the exact car that will carry Kate on Friday, prompting cheers from the crowd before they realized it was just her stand in,” said the report.
